Marcus Garvey Construction Company

MGCC was established in 1974 by father/son team, Tom and Marcus Garvey. They have built homes, condominiums, townhomes, and other building types including wireless build-outs in the Chicago area. View a partial list of our previous projects.

Who is Tom Garvey?

Tom Garvey was born in Los Angeles, CA to Irish and Italian parents. He has lived in Chicago most of his adult life. Tom has served in the U.S. Army in Panama. He completed coursework towards a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

For several years, Tom was a volunteer construction manager with Habitat for Humanity. He is known as an expert construction witness for the Technical Advisor Services Association (TASA), and he is a past mediator for the American Arbitration Association. A past member of the board of directors of the "Old Town Triangle Association," Tom Garvey has always been active in his community.

Tom Garvey’s career in the construction industry started as a road builder. He was employed by Kiewit, Pachen and Cunningham Joint Venture. That was summer work. Full time, Tom worked as an HVAC design engineer, and as a pipe covering contractor, operating in many Chicago high-rise buildings. Tom began general contracting and project management in telecommunications, cable and fiber optics. This includes participating in the successful launch of the T-Mobile Wireless System introduced in the Chicago market through the O’Hare corridor in 1999.

Marcus Garvey Construction Company, under Tom's leadership, has built several new homes in the Old Town Triangle and Lincoln Park area. Our greatest pleasure is to build for our long list of satisfied customers.
